Welcome to UrbiCulture Farms
Our Mission!
UrbiCulture Farms is a multi-plot family farm committed to sustainably growing affordable, local, and non-certified organic food in the City of Denver, providing produce to people of all income levels, building community, beautifying our neighborhoods and working towards becoming a zero carbon farm.
Why?
There is an awakening that is occurring that we cannot survive in the future if our crops have to travel 1500 miles or more from where they are grown to our plates. Colorado residents are beginning to realize that the only things we do grow in our fields nearby are crops like wheat and corn which are not grown for human consumption. This awakening is transforming and re-creating our knowledge of what we know as local food. It is manifesting in ways like community supported agriculture (CSA), local organic foods, farmers markets, and more. We at UrbiCulture Farms, have decided that as our life work we want to be a part of the local food revolution in a way that will provide fresh vegetables, eggs, fish, and fruit to anyone no matter what their income.
UrbiCulture Farms helps decrease our collective carbon footprint by lessening the need for transportation of food, agriculture machinery, as well as not using toxic pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Additionally we build community, teach people about where their food comes from, give opportunity for low income households to have local and healthy produce, use water for food not lawns, and much more!
How?
We transform yards, vacant lots, city land and church lots into farm spaces that grow food, host chickens and/or beehives and foster spaces for the community to come together and learn about local food. For more information about how to become apart of this local food revolution go to our Get Involved page.
